NOTE: The Terms of Service outlined below is a work-in-progress which will be revised and finalised prior to the platform's official launch for customers. Our Service will be provided in accordance with the Fair Trading Act 1986, Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, and all other relevant legislation.

Please read these terms of service carefully before using Our Service.

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Green Marketplace website (https://marketplace.greens.org.nz) operated by the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By accessing or using this platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Marketplace.

1. Who can use the Green Marketplace

To use this service, you must:

• Be 18 years or older (or have the consent of a guardian),
• Have legal capacity to enter into agreements,
• Be based in New Zealand or agree to comply with NZ laws if selling internationally.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any user account if these conditions are not met.

2. Your responsibilities

As a user (either buyer or seller), you agree to:

• Provide true, current, and complete information,
• Use the platform in good faith and for legal purposes only,
• Respect the rights of other users, and
• Comply with all applicable New Zealand laws, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986, and Privacy Act 2020.

If you are a seller, you are responsible for:

• Ensuring your listings are accurate, lawful, and not misleading,
• Delivering goods or services as described,
• Handling disputes in a fair and timely way.

3. Listings and content

You must not list or promote:

• Illegal, stolen, or counterfeit goods,
• Hazardous or banned items under NZ law,
• Misleading or discriminatory content,
• Content that infringes intellectual property rights.

We reserve the right to remove listings that breach these terms or do not align with our values.

4. Payments and fees

The Green Marketplace may charge a small fee to cover operating costs. This will be clearly disclosed before any charges are applied.

All transactions are handled by a third-party payment provider. We do not store your financial details and are not responsible for payment disputes — see our Disputes Resolution Policy for more.

5. Our role

Green Marketplace is a venue for connecting buyers and sellers. Ethical accreditations notwithstanding, we do not act as a party to any transaction and do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or delivery of items listed. However, we may step in if someone’s acting in bad faith or violating these Terms of Service.

6. Privacy

We are committed to protecting your privacy under the Privacy Act 2020. By using the Marketplace, you agree to our Privacy Policy, which outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

7. Disputes

We encourage users to resolve issues directly where possible. If a matter cannot be resolved, please refer to our Disputes Resolution Policy.

8. Account termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if we believe you have breached these Terms or acted in a way that is harmful to other users or the platform.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. We will notify users of any significant changes, and continued use of the platform will be deemed acceptance of the updated Terms.
